Pisces Horoscope for February 2009
By Susan Miller
February will be a month unlike many you’ve experienced. It will be quite subtle in influence, but quite powerful in a way you may not have experienced in a long time. Others close to you may be quick to assume that not much is happening in your life, but that would be wrong. Actually the opposite will be true. Others can only judge by what they see – with the powerful changes bubbling up within you, your changes will be invisible to others for now, but will become quite evident in time.
Not only will your thinking and perspective undergo change, but your priorities may as well. You also seem to be putting the final touches on something highly important to you, and whatever it is seems to require you to keep things under wraps for now. Those who feel that they have you all figured out will be surprised. They haven’t even cracked the surface of all that you are and all that you can be, but being a very private Pisces, you may be fine with that. The most important changes we ever make are ones that are seeded within, and this is precisely what is so exciting about this period.
With Jupiter (luck, gifts), the Sun (authority), and Neptune (creativity and your ruling planet) in your twelfth house, to be joined by Mars (action) on February 4, your yen for privacy will be fiercely strong. You seem to desperately need time to think and reflect on recent events – and to calm down enough to do so. At first you’ll do best to do almost nothing. Your life has been in overdrive lately, so you won’t be able to slip into relaxed, pensive mode instantly. Treat yourself to a little transition time. Visit a museum, go to the movies, take walks, meditate, or take time to pray. You will need to gradually step down your schedule to match the gentler, more reflective pace of early February, and that won’t happen overnight.
Taking the time to plan to get into the right zone may seem a bit weird, but once you do, you will find your creativity flourish on a grand scale. No one can keep creating while on a merry-go-round. With so many planets in the twelfth house ruling (among other things) the nutrient-rich primordial waters of creation, there will be no limit to your creative powers now. Truly, the energy buildup from planets in this house may astound you. You can direct this energy to further a favorite artistic project or to answer a business question. Actually, you can focus this energy on any question.
Your answers to your most pressing creative (and other) questions will arrive in visual forms, as if in a storyboard, a dream, or as a little movie. I say this because the twelfth house rules right-brain conceptual thinking (not linear, analytical left-brain thinking). Use this energy to add substance and style to a present artistic project, or laser beam this same energy to help you end a self-destructive habit.
Keep in mind that planets in this house will bring breakthroughs only while you’re in solitude. You won’t see progress if you allow others to distract you and waste your time, for the twelfth house generally does not bring gifts while you are interacting in groups or even one-on-one. Working alone is where you’ll find your golden nugget.
If you are troubled by a psychological fear or dependency, or if you’ve been suffering with a physical ailment, whether chronic or new, seek medical care this month, for you can now expect better-than-usual results. This house covers confinement for healing benefits, such as in a hospital, rehab, or physical therapy center or other similar facility. These places are beneficial to you now, so investigate new medical breakthroughs that might apply to your condition. If you feel a procedure, talk, or program would serve you well, schedule that action. Rarely have you had such a helpful time to do so.
On or near February 9, plus or minus one week, your attention may be drawn to your physical health because of the lunar eclipse, also a full moon, due at that time.
Astrologers work with bell curves, so sometimes an eclipse will assert a message earlier or later, as all eclipses have wider area of influence than a normal new moon or full moon. In this case, if you don’t see much happening near February 9, look back to the time near January 9 for clues and to next month, to the time near March 9. A lunar eclipse always coincides with a full moon, and as such, always brings conditions to fullness in a dramatic way.
Guard against possible problems with certain medicines and pills this month – you may have a reaction you would not expect due to the prominence of Neptune at the eclipse February 9. No need to avoid your meds, however. Just take sensible precautions by talking over your prescription with your doctor and pharmacist, and focus in on possible side effects.
Alternatively, if you find your doctors are having a problem making a definitive diagnosis for you, be determined to continue seeking the answer, perhaps by seeing other doctors for additional opinions. Dear Pisces, don’t be deterred. Eclipses bring illumination, so the answer should appear in time if you press on. If the answer one comes up with for you doesn’t sound right, trust your intuition and keep looking. Questioning everything actually is a good idea this month.
The sixth house, where this February 9 eclipse will fall, also rules work projects. Something you began back in early or mid-August is likely to reach a new, more exciting stage, or you may now see your project reach a grand finale. If it is an artistic project that you are thinking about at eclipse time, February 9, it could well bring one of your proudest moments.
This month, Venus will enter Aries on February 2 and begin to brighten your second house of income. What’s especially interesting about this particular visit of Venus in Aries is that Venus won’t remain in this area of your chart for a typical four-week period as Venus ordinarily would, but will remain an astounding four months – until June 7. This is very good news for you, dear Pisces, because Venus is strongly associated with financial prosperity and doubly so when touring a financial house, as it will be for you. Venus will be very compatible with Jupiter’s visit to Aquarius, still another sign that money will begin to improve for you minute by minute.
Your first sign that your cash flow is improving dramatically will come on February 16, when Venus and Jupiter will be at superb angles. This will be a great day.
Wait – there is more!
Monetary news should get even better on your brilliant five-star day, February 17, when Mars, the ruler of your earned income house will align perfectly with Jupiter. This is a rare aspect – make the most of it!
On February 18, your fortunes are due to rise AGAIN, due to a lovely communication between Venus and Mars. Wow, dear Pisces – are you happy? You should be!
Be sure to have appointments or presentations lined up for those dazzling days for financial gains. Remember that the money you see will be money you earn, not win or be given, but hey, that’s wonderful!
By time we get to the end of the month, we enter birthday time for you, Pisces. Your best moment will arrive February 24, at the new moon in Pisces, which will open up a dearly important opportunity.
At this point of the month, you will be ready to come out of hibernation, for by then the Sun will be in Pisces. (You and I talked earlier about the need to be in solitude to do your best work – that trend will end on February 18.) Talking about your project to many others will become possible, for the final touches you have been applying will (or should) be finished. As you begin to show it in the weeks that follow, you’ll get lots of encouragement from your adoring fans.
You only get a new moon in your own sign once a year, and each year you hope that new moon will be friendly. If that’s the case, you are assured cosmic help all year, but if it’s not, the whole year seems to follow the pattern set by that new moon.
Last year’s new moon in Pisces was volatile, and so the past year may have been one of high contrast, with difficult lows and superb highs. This year your birthday new moon will be stable and helpful, suggesting you will have an easier time building a foundation to your new plans in the year ahead.
Were you born within five days of February 24? The closer you were born to this new moon, the more likely you will feel its warming, benefic rays. If you were born at this time in February, your year will be filled with exciting fresh starts. Gee, remember how hard the time was for you near February 20 last year? That was the date of a very mean eclipse, and many February-born Pisces found themselves in a very stressful episode at the time. That’s over and done – no more moments like that will come to you.
Romantically, Valentine’s Day is shaping up to be quite special. The moon will be in Scorpio, the sign that’s divine for Pisces. Celebrate your love for your significant other this year, dear Pisces, for the moon in Scorpio suggests you may be thrilled with how things unfold. Choose to have your private celebration in a restaurant that has a fireplace, flowers, and other warm and cozy elements. If you are attached, you’ll be all set!
Keep in mind that Mercury will no longer be retrograde once you get to February 1. Mercury rules your closest partners, so if your relationship was bumpy last month, you can look forward to it becoming much smoother in February.
Expect a sensational day with a committed partner on February 24 when Mercury and Jupiter meet on your behalf. This will be a dazzling day to see eye-to-eye with your significant other (or, even a business partner), so revel in it! To be clear, February 24 will bring you a rare alignment of Mercury and Jupiter AND a new moon in Pisces – two very distinct aspects on this day, making it very special.
If you are single, with the heavy emphasis on humanitarian Aquarius and your twelfth house, you may meet someone interesting in the romantic sense while you volunteer for a charity you believe in. Indeed, everything about the person you would meet this month would be fascinating to you, and chances are, you’d be excited by how similarly you both see the world. Aquarius rules humanitarian efforts and charities and also groups of any kind, so it would be worthwhile joining a new club this month, whether for professional or social purposes.
If you like, you might also investigate Internet dating or schedule a blind date through a friend this month. Friends will have good advice for you now, whether by fixing you up with an intriguing new person or by advising you on how to write your Internet dating profile. Speak up – they won’t know you’d like to have their help until you ask! Aquarius rules all electronic media as well, so you might have luck on one of those dating sites. Give it a try in a sensible, safe way.
In all, this month will take you off in an important new direction on several levels: creatively, financially, and romantically – or all three! It’s sure to be an exciting time, dear Pisces! Be sure to give yourself lots of private time to relax, play, and think. You will need to quiet yourself down to hear your small, sure voice within, the one that knows you best. This month, your intuition will be right on target, so keep your own council and don’t let anyone tell you that you’ve got things wrong!
Summary
The month starts out quietly and softly, but even so there’s no question that this is a powerful time for you. The thoughts and inspirations that occur to you this month could turn out to be life changing in a most positive way. You may come up with breakthrough ideas now, so in the first three weeks of February, spend time behind closed doors thinking and also tinkering and experimenting with creative projects. You will need to withdraw from others’ distractions, for this time will be too precious to waste.
If you made a resolution to end a bad habit at the start of the New Year but haven’t made much progress on your plan yet (much to your disappointment), try again now. February will be your strongest month of the year for advancing health and psychological issues. You’ll have to be serious about committing to your goal, but if you are, there’ll be no stopping you. If you feel it would be helpful to have a coach, doctor, or other professional to help you, look for one immediately – this month brings all the right, most loving and caring people to your side.
If you have a health issue that requires attention, it may reach culmination on the February 9 full moon lunar eclipse. This eclipse will fall near Neptune, so if any problem does arise and proves hard to diagnose, keep searching for answers by getting second and third opinions. You can get the help you need, but you will have to be quite determined to do so. Be very, very wary of new medicines you take now and in coming weeks. Find out about any side effects, and don’t mix alcohol with drugs, as Neptune’s presence suggests you be careful.
Your work life will also be very busy, with some sort of news about a current or future project coming to your attention near the full moon lunar eclipse February 9. There’s a good chance one project will be finishing up or that you will finally get the green light to begin an important project dear to your heart.
If you are creative, Neptune’s strong position at the time of this full moon should be a blessing. Ask a lot of questions about the new assignment – you may misunderstand certain elements involved that could cause you to lose valuable time. The more you are in sync with the client or your boss, the better – go the extra mile to keep lines of communication open.
News about your finances at the meeting of Mars and Jupiter, February 16-18, should thrill you!
Although most of the month you will work beautifully behind closed doors, the mood will change once you get to the key new moon in Pisces, February 24. That’s when you should be ready to show the world how creative and innovative you can be – but not a moment sooner. Things will start to zing into place after that new moon in Pisces on February 24, so much so that you may be very surprised.
If you are a February-born Pisces, this new moon will be a dream come true. Think back to last February 20 – that must have been a very difficult time for you if you were born near that date. How much better this February will be, especially when compared to the last one! You have come a long way in the past year, and you should be proud how you have grown in maturity and seasoning.
Valentine’s Day may prove emotional and warm, thanks to the moon’s tour of Scorpio, a perfect place for the moon to be for you.
If you are not attached, you may be invited to a party of singles (or you may give one) with all types attending. If you don’t get invited to a party, give one, and have friends bring friends you don’t know. With Mars signaling Jupiter during this week (and Mars rules Scorpio, the place the moon will be), your prospects for striking up a new relationship look really good!

P.S. from Susan Miller for February
If you already ordered your 13-month “Year Ahead 2009 Astrological Wall Calendar” by me, Susan Miller, you saw this caption under the artwork of the lily pad for Pisces, on the March page. For those of you who didn’t see it, here’s the caption:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PISCES!
The tranquil waters of the lily pond have a Zen quality that invites meditation. This is an apt image for you, dear Pisces, for you are spiritual and philosophical in nature, the sign most capable of expressing unconditional love and compassion for a friend, family member, or even a complete stranger.
Each sign is considered a compilation of all the signs that come before it. As the last sign of the zodiac, you benefit from the qualities and talents of all eleven signs that precede yours, explaining why you are considered wise beyond your years.
While the March winds blow and heavy rains nurture the earth for spring’s flowers and foliage, it’s comforting to spend time in solitude, taking quiet walks and reflecting upon past experiences. Only by examining life, says Pisces, are we able to find meaning and inspiration from our experiences.
You are a water sign, and water cleanses, inspires, and heals. Many find that you have a similar effect on them. Water is mysterious and hard to read, and similarly, as a Pisces, you have depths and creative talents you don’t always immediately reveal to others. There’ll be time for that, you say, and of course you’re right. You feel no special need to impress.
Neptune, your ruler, governs dreams, feeling, intuition, and the subconscious mind. All are areas that feed your rich imagination. Pisces is comfortable with ambiguity, and that’s your strength. Your mind is free, playful, and open, and always ready to create worlds the rest of us have never fathomed.
